2024 Kansas City Automotive Museum Student Art Car Experience: Inspiring Creativity & Technical Skills Through Automotive Art
Drive the Dream: Art Car Fund
Student Art Car Experience
The Kansas City Automotive Museum’s 2024 Student Art Car Experience, led by museum founder Jeff Wagoner, is an exciting educational project that combines art, engineering, and media production. Originally launched in 2017 with a painted Volkswagen Beetle, the initiative raised over $6,000 for the museum and received widespread media attention. This year, students will transform a 2017 Ford Mustang Convertible, donated by a KCAM founder, into a custom-designed art car with the guidance of professional vehicle wrap artist Todd Pearson.
High school students from various disciplines collaborate on the project, from creating unique vehicle graphics to ensuring the car is mechanically sound. They will also produce a “making of” video documenting the process. This hands-on experience encourages creativity, technical skill development, and teamwork while offering students real-world opportunities to apply their knowledge.
The car will be auctioned off at Mecum Kansas City 2024 Friday December 6 at 5:30 PM, with proceeds benefiting the museum for future projects.
