The Kansas City Auto Museum Joins
Sunflower Summer For a Second Year

Kansas City, MO – This year, Sunflower Summer provides eligible students and one parent or guardian a chance to visit museums and attractions across Kansas from July 12th to August 3rd. Last year, KCAM saw 855 visitors during Sunflower Summer. This year, the program length will be shorter than it was last year, but anticipation is high. To claim tickets, go to The Sunflower App. Participating programs and attractions will be announced in June.

“It was fun seeing kids get excited about the cars and exhibits, and we loved the energy they brought with them. It gave the museum a lively, family-friendly vibe during the summer, said Maria Estrada, Executive Director at The Kansas City Automotive Museum. “It’s more than just a fun day trip for our guests; it’s a chance for kids to be curious, try something different, and maybe even discover a new interest.”

Since opening in 2014, KCAM has welcomed over 10,000 visitors. Offering exhibits that rotate monthly, ranging from Model Ts to Campers, and just about everything in between. Standing exhibits include the Homer B. Roberts Exhibit, which highlights African American contributions to the automotive industry. Roberts was the first African American to own a dealership in the United States, Roberts Company Motor Mart in Kansas City in 1919. The dealership came to life in 1919 and paved the way for African Americans in the automotive industry.
