From the Curator: Supercars & Exotics

This month at KCAM, we’re swapping vintage steel for sculpted carbon fiber as we turn our spotlight toward supercars and exotics — machines built not just to move, but to mesmerize.

From Italian thoroughbreds to modern engineering marvels, supercars have long represented the pinnacle of performance and design. These cars blur the line between art and technology, pairing wind-tunnel precision with heart-pounding power and the kind of acceleration that feels like a magic trick.

The evolution of the supercar is a story of innovation, rivalry, and the relentless pursuit of speed. In Kansas City, exotic cars have carved out a passionate community of collectors, dreamers, and weekend drivers who gather for sunrise cruises, parking-lot showcases, and shared moments around engines that roar like thunder.

This month’s Drive-In Exhibit brings together a stunning lineup that reflects the breadth and excitement of the supercar world. Whether you’re drawn to sculpted silhouettes, high-revving symphonies, or boundary-pushing engineering, each machine tells a story of ambition, ingenuity, and the thrill of chasing the horizon.

Coming next month: We’re kicking off the new year with something fast, fun, and scaled-down — Pinewood Derbies every weekend in January, where Scouts design, build, and race their miniature cars.

See you soon,
