From the Curator: Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg (ACD)

So, what’s a Cord?  That’s the response most often encountered when introducing the iconic Cord car. This month, KCAM is thrilled to present a unique showcase of Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg (ACD) vehicles. Alongside these exceptional cars, visitors will also be introduced to the visionary behind them: Errett Lobban Cord and his expansive automotive empire.

Starting from the founding of the Eckhart Carriage Co. in 1874 to the lasting legacy of ACD vehicles and today’s Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Indiana, our exhibit will take visitors on a journey through automotive history.

Here’s a closer look at a few of the rare landmark automobiles on display:

  • 1937 Cord Beverly Sedan – Known for its sleek, aerodynamic design and innovative front-wheel-drive system, this supercharged Beverly Sedan is a marvel of engineering ahead of its time.
  • 1936 810 Supercharged Phaeton Cord – A rare gem with elegant lines and sophisticated design, this supercharged convertible showcases Cord’s luxurious take on open-air motoring. *Limited Engagement*
  • 1936 Cord 810 Westchester Sedan – With its iconic “coffin nose” grille and pioneering front-wheel drive, the Cord 810 is a rare pre-WWII gem, showcasing bold Art Deco design and innovative engineering.
  • 1922 Duesenberg Model A – Recognized for its exceptional engineering, this Duesenberg introduced features that influenced the industry for decades.
  • 1935 Auburn 851 – With its striking Art Deco-inspired design and powerful supercharged engine, the Auburn 851 is a rare example of pre-WWII American luxury and performance.

These vehicles not only represent remarkable advancements in automotive technology but also embody the innovative spirit of the 1930s. Don’t miss this opportunity to see them up close, as many of these models are rarely displayed to the public.

In addition to these historic models, we’re also featuring fresh exhibits in our gallery. And don’t miss our seasonal activities, like Breakfast With Santa in December and January’s Pinewood Derbies—fun for the whole family!

Join us at the museum for a journey through time and a rare glimpse at some of the most unique automobiles in history. We look forward to seeing you!

Until next month,
