Kansas City Automotive Museum and Olathe Public Schools Launch Thrilling Art Car Project Featuring a 2017 Ford Mustang.
Olathe, KS – November 12, 2024 – The Kansas City Automotive Museum and Olathe Public Schools are proud to announce an extraordinary Art Car project, transforming a 2017 Ford Mustang into a striking work of art. This collaboration combines advanced automotive technology with creative visual design. The subject of the project is a 2017 Ford Mustang, generously donated for this educational opportunity. Students from the Olathe Advanced Technical Center (OATC), under the guidance of teacher Chris Bergen, made mechanical repairs to ensure the vehicle operates at peak performance. Meanwhile, Visual Arts Academy students, guided by local artist Todd Pearson, designed and created an artistic wrap for the car. This hands-on project provided students with valuable workforce skills and firsthand experience in integrating creative artistry with engineering.
“KCAM is dedicated to educating people about the automobile and its Kansas City heritage. Helping students explore the intersection of technology and art aligns with the museum’s mission and prepares an innovative workforce for Kansas City,” said Alana Zimmer, Executive Director of the Kansas City Automotive Museum. “This initiative not only allows students to showcase their skills, but also demonstrates the power of collaboration across disciplines.” This Friday, November 15, at 8:30 AM a handoff ceremony will be at OATC, (611 N. Nelson Olathe, KS 66061), to acknowledge the students and their efforts. The car will be auctioned off at Mecum Kansas City 2024 Friday December 6 at 5:30 PM, with proceeds benefiting the museum for future projects.
