1956 Packard Executive
Introduced in 1956, the Packard Executive line replaced the Clipper Custom line as Packard’s shining model. As a mid-year model, only 2,815 Executives were produced for1956, a third of which were 2-door hardtops.
The Packard Motor Car Company was founded in 1899 and was known for its consistent quality and timeless style. While other manufacturers updated models every year to match fast-moving trends, Packard prided itself on creating cars that remained classy for years. The technological features, however, were extremely modern, particularly the torsion-level suspension and twin push-button Ultramatic transmission.
In 1954, Packard Motor Car Company joined together with Studebaker Corporation. Some historians argue that 1956 marks the end of Packard because it was the last model year fully produced with Packard parts in Detroit, their home city. After a continual decline in sales, the final Studebaker-Packard models were sold in 1958.
